Some people naturally drop into the quiet, inward space which meditation invites, but many people find meditating a difficult thing to do.

Some of us have a constantly active mind, with many ideas or worries. The idea of sitting in silence and reaching some imagined enlightened state may not seem attainable. I feel you!

When I started meditating, a long time ago, back in the nineties, I remember the feeling of trying really hard to achieve something, of pressure, of expecting my mind to “empty” out.

I was aiming for a blissed out, transcendental state, or some amazing experience of oneness with the divine, and I did not even really know what that was.

I feel like this is quite a common experience. 

I like to break down some of those walls of pressure. I cultivate an atmosphere for meditation which is founded in realness, and many years of experience as someone with an ADHD brain, trauma, and a stressful, western lifestyle.

I do wholeheartedly advocate for the benefits of meditation, AND, it’s not an overnight piece of magic. Meditation is a practice, and over time we can appreciate many benefits.

In particular, meditation has been shown to increase theta waves. These are brainwaves of a specific frequency of 4-8Hz and are associated with deeply calm states, peace and increased mental clarity. Shamanic drumming is offered at this frequency of beat for exactly that purpose. 

When meditating with me, I will encourage you to find what works for you on the particular day. I would like you not to feel under pressure to sit in a perfect position, or sit with a perfectly straight spine, which a lot of meditators will encourage you to do. Of course that can come with practice, but it may not be available to you.

Online sessions have the advantage of meditating at home, where you can be in your own space and perhaps feel more comfortable.

You can access at any level. Perhaps, at first, you are simply seeking a moment of peace, or time for yourself. Or maybe you are seeking to calm your nervous system. All of these things are available.


As a more experienced meditator, you may be quite well practiced at getting quickly into a very calm state in your body, and slowing your breathing. Your brain will probably respond quickly to the training it’s had previously, to synchronise the two sides of the brain, and to go into theta waves.

You may be well able to access your inner world, your inner visions, your internal perception and intuition in a very shamanic way. You may journey into a world where you see spirit guides, and connect with God, the Divine, quantum energies, healing and other dimensions.
